What this policy covers

This policy explains how Koki collects, uses, and protects personal data through kokimoney.com, Koki's WhatsApp Channel, and Koki's research activities — interviews and surveys.

Who is responsible for your data

Koki Money, based in Cameroon, is the data controller for the personal data described here.

For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights below, write to info@kokimoney.com.

What we collect

  • Waitlist and site data — your name, WhatsApp number, email address, and anything else you send through a form on the Site.
  • Research data — interview and survey answers, which may cover your income patterns, spending habits, family financial obligations, and views on Koki; plus audio and video recordings where you have separately agreed to being recorded.
  • Technical and usage data — pages visited, general location at city or region level, and device type, collected through site analytics and cookies.

How we use it

  • To tell you about Koki's launch, beta access, and related updates.
  • To run and analyse market research, including using the AI tools named below to help synthesise findings.
  • To improve the Site and understand how it is used.
  • To feature interview or survey answers in public content, such as social media — but only where you have separately agreed, as set out in our Terms of Service.

We do not sell personal data.

Data that leaves Cameroon

Several of the providers above are based outside Cameroon, so personal data may be transferred internationally. We send a provider only what it needs to do its job, we work only with providers who commit contractually to protecting it, and where a transfer rests on your consent you can withdraw that consent at any time.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist details — until Koki launches and you have had the chance to open an account, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
  • Research answers and recordings — up to 24 months from the interview, or until you withdraw consent, whichever comes first.
  • De-identified research insights — kept indefinitely, because they can no longer be traced back to you.
  • Analytics data — up to 12 months.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including restricting who can reach research data and working only with reputable providers.

Your rights

Under Cameroon's Law No. 2024/017 on the protection of personal data, you can:

  • See the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Object to certain kinds of processing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.

Write to info@kokimoney.com and we will answer.

Children

The Site and our research are not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone below the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction. This matches the eligibility rule in our Terms of Service.

Cookies

The Site uses cookies and similar technology for basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
